It seems as though Van Gogh is the most famous master associated with sunflowers and for a good reason, he painted over 102 that the world knows about. In our research, no other artist ever has threatened Van Gogh's "ownership" of sunflower paintings, until now. Rasa Kluonius joined our gallery as an artist in residence more than four years ago and we have been collaborating to develop her career by focusing on a strategy around texture, or impasto, as it's been called through the ages. What Wikipedia and most everyone else misses is that texture is there to catch the light and exaggerate that light in the painting.

This is the Hilligoss theory of good lighting and Hilligoss has designed two award winning galleries including the best lighting for impasto. And now has designed and manufactured fixtures that take this principle to the highest level. Rasa has taken her painting stroke to the highest level for sunflowers. She has found many other subjects with which to exaggerate the light with her stroke. But like Van Gogh, she may forever be best known for her sunflowers. Come visit us during her show to see for yourself. Our light show on her sunflowers will convince you.
